Drummer, composer, and bandleader Jerome Gillespie Jr. brings a deeply rooted yet forward-moving sound to his debut residency at Black Cat. Raised in Houston, Texas and now based in New York City, Gillespie’s playing blends the feeling of the church, the fire of hard bop, and a modern sense of storytelling—creating music that is as intentional as it is alive in the moment.
A graduate of Manhattan School of Music, the University of Iowa, and The Juilliard School, Gillespie has shared the stage with artists such as Vincent Herring, Reggie Workman, Mark Gross, and Bobby Watson, and has held the drum chair in multiple Art Blakey &amp; The Jazz Messengers tribute ensembles. That lineage is central to his approach: honoring tradition while pushing it forward with his own voice.
Gillespie is no stranger to the Black Cat stage, having previously performed here alongside pianist Joe Block with the Open Heart Trio and with tenor saxophonist Isaiah Collier. Those appearances offered a glimpse into his versatility—equally at home supporting, shaping, and driving the music from the bandstand.
As a leader, his music focuses on strong, memorable ideas, group chemistry, and a sense of narrative that unfolds over time. This residency marks a new chapter—an opportunity to stretch out, build with the band, and invite listeners into a sound that grows deeper each night.

The Full Moon shines in peak illumination, symbolizing clarity and completion of a cycle. Energy may intensify, emotions amplified, and a window of opportunity widens to manifest our deepest desires. Together, we will harness these cosmic energies using these powerful healing modalities: - Sound Healing - Reiki - Restorative Yoga to rebalance our chakras and clear our auras.

“Yin yoga” targets the connective tissues of the body. Through yin stretches, more space opens up for all the channels of our circulatory system, the nervous system, and the respiratory system to flow more freely and fully. This opening also increases your range of motion, which helps you to access the more advanced asanas of “yang," or muscular-engaging yoga.
In this 90-minute workshop, you will be guided through a series of yin poses, learning the fundamentals of the practice, and experience the many benefits of these long-held floor stretches.
Linda Souders trained with Yin founders Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers, as well as Bernie Clark. She has practiced and taught yin for decades, and is excited to pass on to you this enjoyable and transformative practice.

Ellen Bialystok, professor emeritus at York University in Toronto and a cognitive neuroscientist asserts that &ldquo;Over the lifespan, people who have managed and used two languages end up with brains that are in better shape and more resilient.&rdquo;&nbsp;
