Artis is a local freelance photographer, writer, and editor, in addition to a number of other manifestations: videographer, artist, teacher, designer, web mistress, Reiki Master, holistic childbirth educator & natural birth advocate, hand & foot percussionist, dancer, musician; loving homeschool mother of three (9, 4, and under 1), wife, mistress of organized chaos, whimsical renegade, gypsy, globe trotter, lover, esoteric philosopher, naturalist, adventurist, obsessive documentarist.

Artis is a native of Washington, DC and grew up from age 7 in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, VA. After living the school of nature for two years in a rustic cabin out in Loudoun County and the school of life for four years in New York City, she returned to the area and earned a BFA in Fine Arts from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C. and began working professionally as a photographer in 2006. Artis loves editorial work and enjoys freelancing for a number of Patches in the NOVA area. She also does on-location portraits, fine art photography, and event coverage, including weddings, parties, performances, sports, corporate events, and anything else you need photographed.
