Northern Virginia Fairfax Families for Safe Streets (NoVA FSS) cordially invites you to attend and support our upcoming World Day of Remembrance (WDoR) for Road Traffic Victims.novasafestreets.org/world-day-of-remembrance-for-road-traffic-victims-2026/World Day of Remembrance is an annual event where we honor those whose lives were prematurely ended after being struck by a person driving. This year is particularly painful and sad as we think about the recent death of a 13-year-old Frost middle school student who was struck and killed by a person driving a truck on Pickett Road. We will also honor the more than 25 other people (as of today’s date) who have been killed on Northern Virginia streets while, walking, biking, or rolling since last year’s day of remembrance. The event will conclude with calls to action for our elected officials and policy-makers. Crashes are not accidents - they can be prevented.

What do we do with biblical passages that have been used to justify discrimination, exclusion, or oppression? How do we distinguish between what Scripture says and what people have used Scripture to say?
Why do sincere people reach radically different conclusions from the same Scriptures—and what happens when those interpretations are used to determine who belongs, who holds power, and who is treated as less than equal?
Is the problem with these passages themselves, or with the ways we have interpreted and applied them?
Led by Pastor Daniel Park, October’s Taproom Theology will explore several historically difficult passages of Scripture—passages that have, at times, been used as weapons.
Together, we’ll consider how interpretation shapes our understanding of Scripture, how these texts have been used throughout history, and how we as Christians can respond faithfully today.
