• Steve Shannon Begins Term as Chief Judge of Fairfax Circuit Court (fairfaxcounty.gov) — Residents near George Mason should know that Judge Steve Shannon has just begun serving as chief judge of the Fairfax Circuit Court, the largest trial court in Virginia. He brings long experience in Fairfax public service and also teaches at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School, strengthening ties between the courthouse and local legal education. 
• Va. creates State Climate Office at George Mason University (richmond.com) — If you live around George Mason’s new State Climate Office will be based at George Mason University’s Virginia Climate Center, which is already mapping dangerous heat across Fairfax, Arlington, and Alexandria. Volunteer teams are driving local streets with sensors to pinpoint hotter neighborhoods, helping officials plan for future heat waves and better protect vulnerable residents as the climate warms.
