Barrel & Bushel

The Admissions Team is coming to Tysons on Friday, November 6, and we would love to sit down with you and your family.
Pacific Preparatory is a Cognia-accredited online K-12 school. Every student learns through 1:1 live instruction that is built around that child, rather than asking the child to fit a school environment. Families can enroll full-time, add a single course, or work with our tutors for academic support, test prep, and enrichment. Our small team of real people takes the time to get to know each student well.
We tend to be a good fit for students who have not been well served by traditional school. That includes kids with learning differences, kids who need more flexibility in how and when they learn, and kids who are ready to move faster than their classroom allows. If your child is bright but struggling, or capable but unhappy, we would be glad to see how we could help.
We are offering free 20-minute, in-person conversations, with no cost and no obligation. You are welcome to come with questions, or just to tell us about your child and see whether we might be a good fit.

Friday, November 6, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Barrel + Bushel, 7901 Tysons One Plaza, Tysons, VA
Spaces are limited, and you can reserve a time here: https://www.pacificpreparatory.org/scheduling/admissions-dc-metro
If Thursday in North Bethesda would be easier, we will be there as well. And if you can’t make either day but would like to talk, I’m glad to arrange a phone or Zoom call at cory@pacificpreparatory.org.
We hope to meet you!

If you are concerned about your child’s reading ability, McLean School is pleased to offer an upcoming complimentary Acadience Reading Screening.
Extensive evidence shows that struggling readers who do not receive early intervention fall behind academically and it is harder for them to catch up in later grades.
This complimentary 30-minute session will provide actionable data using the Acadience Reading Screening, one of three universal reading screeners in the United States proven to reliably identify students who need immediate reading intervention.

What Do the 2026 Midterm Elections Mean for America’s Political Future?
Please join the AAUW McLean Area Branch for a special presentation by Stephen Farnsworth, PhD, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and International Affairs at the University of Mary Washington. Dr. Farnsworth will unpack the election results and will examine what they reveal about public opinion, the balance of power in Congress, and the future of the president’s policy agenda. Drawing on his expertise in American politics, presidential leadership, political communication, and Virginia politics, Dr. Farnsworth will explore how election outcomes may reshape relations between the White House and Congress, influence national policy debates, and set the stage for the 2028 presidential election. Dr. Farnsworth is a distinguished professor and the author or co-author of nine books on the presidency, mass media, public opinion, and journalism, and a recipient of Virginia’s Outstanding Faculty Award.
