If you just go by my Twitter profile, you'll learn "I'm a two-time leukemia survivor-outdoors lover-hispana wannabe-speedwalker-writer-photography enthusiast-wishing I were in Seattle-dog loving-Yankees fan."

Given a few more characters to work with though, I can tell you I work for a non-profit organization that raises funds for breast cancer research through the sport of volleyball.  The Side-Out Foundation was started in 2004 with a volleyball grass doubles event, and it has grown into a national event with volleyball fundraisers in every state (and Germany!).

Keeping a personal blog during my treatment for leukemia rekindled my love for writing.  Although I spent my years at the University of Virginia and American University earning degrees in Spanish and Latin American Studies, I realize my true passion lies in writing (in English :) ).  I hope you enjoy my posts!
