Myles Smith, Neighbor

Hello, my name is Myles Smith. I am a Life and Empowerment Coach specializing in working with the Baby Boom/Encore Generation by helping them empower themselves to live the Second Act of their lives to the very fullest.

I am extremely qualified as a Coach in this area because I am a Baby Boomer myself: I have been there, done that, and I understand that the Baby Boomer Generation is not ready to settle into a rocking chair, and watch the world slide by. Instead, we still hold those ideals we embraced early on of reaching out to understand our world and how we interact within it. 

My life’s journey has gifted me with an enormous well of both experience and a knowledge base which I draw from as both an Encore Coach and in my writings on this subject. From growing up on a ranch in New Mexico to having been through the seminal life-changing experiences we all share – I can genuinely say that I understand when someone says that they’re looking for a change, but don’t know what it is or how to go about getting it.

My Background

For as long as I  can remember I have been the ‘Shoulder’ that everyone went to in high school to lean on, tell their deepest and darkest secrets to, to ask advice of, and be the quintessential ‘he’s like a brother to me…’. Even though I did not follow that path formally for a number of years I have continued to be everyone’s ‘go-to’ for strength, guidance, and sounding-board.

When my wife, Sue and I became empty-nesters a few years ago, we down-sized to a townhouse in Marietta, and began to realize that we were living the Baby Boom lifestyle – we decided to fully embrace the Encore or Second Act life and follow our passions.

My academic and professional careers include having attended Eastern New Mexico University, University of Kentucky, a 25 year career in the transportation industry, West Virginia University, and a second career in the Information Technology field.

Looking back I realized that throughout all of these I was always helping others navigate the challenges and changes of life to reach their full potentials. I added to my education with formal Coach training through iPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching).

This is where I am today: helping my fellow Baby Boomers move forward through being empty-nesters, possibly suddenly single, or just facing the situation of  “I’m 50/60, Now What?”
