<b>Bio:</b> I&#39;m a native of the Southern Louisiana Gulf Coast, and I&#39;ve lived in the Bay Area for several years, in addition to Iowa, Texas and Italy. I hold a degree in Political Science and Communication from Santa Clara University, in addition to spending several years at Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!)<br><br>I started working in print journalism when I was 17, and since then, have held positions at San Jose Mercury News, Baton Rouge Advocate and American Press. As a reporter in my home state of Louisiana, I helped cover Hurricane Katrina, the Louisiana governor&#39;s race and broke several major stories on the state health care system.

While not banging out stories for Patch on my beloved MacBook Pro, I can be found making giant messes in the kitchen that sometime result in food (even if dinner is often served at 9 p.m.), watching <i>Battlestar Galactica </i>with my boyfriend Jason, cheering on the San Francisco Giants and Houston Astros, knitting like a little old lady and traipsing all over the Bay Area from Berkeley to Brisbane to Santa Clara. My golden retriever puppy can usually be found a few steps behind me or trying unsuccessfuly to sit on my laptop (she resents how much time it takes away from her.)

I can chew through a stack of library books in a week, and welcome any book suggestions to my email. I&#39;m still bitter that <i>Arrested Development</i> was canceled. I will never be able to stop saying y&#39;all, much to the amusement of my co-workers and friends. Ultimately, my adult life has been one long pursuit at becoming Tina Fey (GAP cardigan and blouse wardrobe? Check. Glasses? Double check.)

<b>My Beliefs</b>: At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.<br><br><b>Politics: </b>I&#39;m still recovering from growing up in the South while fiercely resisting becoming my grandmother&#39;s worst nightmare: a hippie. Like most journalists, I&#39;m a registered independent and believe that no party has all the answers --- or even most of them.<br><br><b>Religion</b>: I can sit, stand, kneel and repeat with the best of the Catholics.

<b>Local Hot-Button Issues</b>: I have a passion for investigative journalism, and am eager to report in-depth on Foster City&#39;s people, places and institutions. Among the issues I&#39;m eager to cover are the debate over a high school for Foster City, transportation on the San Mateo Bridge and the ongoing growth of Foster City.
