📰 News we're reading

• Moab City Council approves RAP tax funding to local groups (moabtimes.com) — Moab City Council just awarded this year’s RAP tax grants to 19 local nonprofits and projects, and backed SkyWest as the preferred airline for Canyonlands Regional Airport. Councilors also shifted some sidewalk, curb, and gutter exception approvals from the council to the city manager, potentially speeding development decisions that shape Moab’s streetscapes.

• Bike bus initiative launches in Moab (moabtimes.com) — Moab families now have a weekly “bike bus” to Helen M. Knight Elementary, led by City Councilor Colin Topper every Friday morning with four pickup stops across town. The effort aims to pull kids away from screens, build active habits, and eventually be run by parents, with potential new routes if enough riders join in.

• Who gets to ride Moab's trails? Grand County is trying to expand the answer (moabtimes.com) — Adaptive cyclists now have more than 50 miles of rideable trail in Grand County, thanks to upgrades coordinated with the BLM Moab Field Office and local partners. Crews are subtly widening and smoothing popular systems like Horsethief, Klondike and Mud Springs, while adding better trailhead information so riders with disabilities can plan Moab trips with more confidence and independence.
