• Ogden gas price average moves closer to $5 per gallon after 20.9-cent rise since last week (standard.net) — Drivers in Ogden are now paying an average of $4.91 per gallon, after prices jumped nearly 21 cents in just a week and more than $2 since early March. Local stations range from $4.69 to $4.99, with statewide and national averages offering little relief as refinery issues and global factors keep fuel costs volatile.
   

• Federal agent in Ogden claimed she was unable to work, went to hike in Italy instead, charges claim (fox13now.com) — A federal law enforcement official based in Ogden is accused of falsely claiming she was too disabled to work after a concussion while allegedly traveling to Italy and hiking extensively. Prosecutors say she collected over $51,000 in disability payments during this period, and the case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Utah.
   

• This farmers market had a not-so-unexpected visitor (deseret.com) — Wildlife officials recently euthanized a black bear found in an Ogden shopping mall parking lot, highlighting how drought and scarce natural food are pushing bears into towns across Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming.
