• A long time coming: USS Ogden veterans hold reunion in ship's namesake city for the first time (standard.net) — USS Ogden veterans finally brought their annual reunion to Ogden this week, where Mayor Ben Nadolski honored them with a proclamation and warm welcome. About 45 former crew members toured downtown, Union Station, and Hill Air Force Base, praising the city's hospitality. Much of the ship's memorabilia is now headed to the Museums at Union Station for potential display.
   

• Utah 4-H communities rally around children facing serious illnesses (ksl.com) — In Ogden, 4-H families and local buyers turned the Weber County Junior Livestock Auction into a $41,000 show of support for nine-year-old Brandon "Chomp" Barela after heart failure kept him from showing his goat. Community members, many who'd never met him, pooled bids, returned the goat to his family, and inspired similar generosity for another sick 4-H exhibitor in Salt Lake County.
