Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:

  1. Another piece of obscure public art has arrived in Salt Lake City — a giant 15-foot pencil. The statue is titled "On Point" and can be found at 242 E. South Temple in front of a Price Real Estate-owned building. "On Point" joins statues of an ostrich and a rhino as the obscure public art pieces scattered through our city. (KSL.com)
  2. The Salt Lake City gun buyback event got over a hundred unwanted guns off city streets. The event collected 38 rifles, 28 revolvers, 24 pistols, and 13 shotguns in exchange for gift cards. Five of the surrendered weapons were reported stolen. The Salt Lake City Police Department reportedly plans to hold another gun buyback event soon. (Salt Lake Tribune)
  3. The Salt Lake City Police Department is currently investigating an incident that resulted in two sustaining receiving gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at 368 West 900 South when a fight broke out at a large party. Responding officers shut down the area and collected evidence. Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact the department. (KUTV 2News)
