SLC Council grants waiver allowing Pizzerium across from Liberty Park to apply for liquor license (abc4.com) — Salt Lake City Council has approved a waiver letting Via Veneto Pizzarium, across from Liberty Park, apply for a beer and wine license under Utah's updated distance rules. The restaurant still needs DABS approval, but city consent clears a major hurdle for serving alcohol so close to a park. 
2. These riders say Salt Lake City's 999 Ride is 'souring,' but what can be done about it? (ksl.com) — Salt Lake City's weekly 999 Ride is drawing hundreds of cyclists and growing concerns about safety, property damage, and traffic conflicts. Riders, city staff, and police just met to explore solutions, from better role models and routes to possible city support, while trying to preserve the ride's grassroots, community feel.
3. Families displaced after Salt Lake City water main break seek answers about nearby construction (fox13now.com) — A major Salt Lake City water main break near 500 South and Emery Street flooded 15 homes, displaced several families, and left a large crater while investigators examine any link to nearby bridge construction. Residents are scrambling for housing and financial help as insurance coverage falls short, gas remains off in some homes, and the city reviews damage claims without yet offering temporary housing.
4. Tips for reducing human-wildlife interactions as black bear encounters rise during drought (abc4.com) — Salt Lake City residents are being urged to take simple steps to avoid attracting hungry black bears as drought pushes them closer to neighborhoods and campgrounds statewide. Wildlife experts say most bears are young and scared of people, but recommend securing trash, pet food, and bird feeders, and carrying bear spray when recreating in nearby canyons and foothills.
