🌱 Stalled Vehicle Hit On I-215 + $33.6M For SLC School District

Hello all. It's me, Sean Peek, your new host of the Salt Lake City Daily. While I now reside on the East Coast, I am originally from the Ogden area and I'm excited to be back covering my old home region. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening in town today.


First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories in Salt Lake City today:

  1. The Utah Highway Patrol reported that two individuals were critically injured after a stalled vehicle was hit by an SUV on I-215. The incident occurred late Saturday night near 1500 West. Both the driver of the vehicle and the passenger of the stalled vehicle are being treated at a local hospital, while the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. (KSL.com)
  2. The Salt Lake City School District will receive another $33.6 million in federal funding for the 2022-2023 school year. Despite the additional funds, the district is still spending $39.9 million more than it will be collecting in revenue next year. The district will be working to address the deficit with teacher position cuts. (KPVI News 6)
  3. Salt Lake County will be opening a series of cooling sites throughout the county this summer. The sites are located at various libraries, aquatic centers, senior centers, and recreational centers. Residents can escape the heat, rehydrate, and learn about county programs at the sites.
