• SAPCC online auction (vermontjournal.com) — Families in the Springfield area can support the Springfield Area Parent Child Center's work by bidding in an online auction running Oct. 1–14. Proceeds will help buy a van so staff can bring playgroups, baby supplies, developmental services, and parent education directly into Springfield neighborhoods and the 25 surrounding communities the organization serves.
   

• 'Protect the Freedom to Read' at Springfield Library (vermontjournal.com) — Springfield residents are invited to gather on the Town Library steps Oct. 5–9 at 1 p.m. to read aloud from banned or challenged books and celebrate the freedom to choose what they read. Whether you want to share a favorite passage or simply listen, the daily event at 43 Main Street welcomes all ages and viewpoints to support intellectual freedom together.
