‘Go, Konnor!’: Alexandria Kindergartener Celebrated For Big Turnaround

Alexandria, Virginia — Virginia is home to students who are showing up, standing out and making a real impact in their schools and communities. To celebrate them, Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to spotlight local students excelling in academics, athletics, the arts and beyond.

Tell us about your star student's accomplishments and why they deserve to be recognized on Patch!

I am so proud of Konnor! He had a pretty rough start to kindergarten — which is a big transition — and that lasted for several months. But he has turned a corner in the past couple of months and is doing much better now! He has earned all smiley faces on his daily behavior charts, recently received a stellar progress report from his teacher, won a Student of the Month award, and is now in a much better place regarding readiness for first grade.

Additionally, he was diagnosed with ADHD and Childhood Emotional Disorder a couple of months ago. He takes daily medication, and other than some to-be-expected tirades at home after long school days, he is able to manage himself better.

I am so proud not only of how he has adjusted to kindergarten, but also of how his actions and behavior have finally regulated in light of his diagnoses. Go, Konnor!
