Annandale Favorites on Netfix (or Qwickster)

Annandale residents have widely varying tastes in movies, judging by the latest Netflix list of local favorites for our area—from drama to comedy (see list below).

But don’t be surprised if those iconic red envelopes with DVDs inside look a little bit different in the coming weeks. Netflix announced this morning that it will be separating its mail-based service from its streaming service and renaming the mail service “Qwickster.”

The announcement was met with numerous online howls from customers and movie buffs, many of who were already unhappy with an earlier Netflix announcement regarding changes to pricing. It didn’t help that Netflix forgot to secure @Qwickster as the new company's Twitter handle.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings responded to the controversy today with a blog post started with this:  “I messed up. I owe everyone an explanation.”
