Driver Rescued From Roof Of Car In Annandale
The car had been swept into the flooded woods in Annandale.
A person was trapped on top of a car in floodwaters Monday morning in Annandale, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
Crews responded to a report of the trapped river around 7:30 a.m. at Woodburn Road and Spicewood Drive. The car had been swept away and got stuck in a flooded part of the woods. When the crews arrived, the driver had escaped to the roof, and the water levels had begun to recede.
No injuries were reported. The intersection was temporarily closed.

The incident was one of several cars stuck in floodwaters the fire department responded to Monday morning. Fairfax County is under a flood warning through 11:45 a.m. Monday. The National Weather Service says most streams were at or near the highest point in flooding around Fairfax County. Accotink Creek was above flood level in the Annandale area.
Officials remind drivers to not drive through flooded portions of roads.
