Two Home Break-Ins Thwarted In Annandale

In both incidents, the suspects would knock on the front door and attempt to sneak in the back.

ANNANDALE, VA—Fairfax County Police are investigating two attempted home break-ins that happened within hours of each other Tuesday in Annandale. Both incidents involved three men trying to sneak into the back of the home after knocking on the front door.

The first happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 7800 block of Butterfield Lane. The resident found the suspects standing outside the basement door after hearing continuous knocking. One of the suspects had had a towel wrapped around his elbow and was trying to break a glass door.

The suspects fled when the resident saw them. They were described as men of mixed race in their late teens or early twenties wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

The next happened three hours later in the 4000 block of Championship Drive. The resident reported someone knocking on their front door and saw three men enter thee fenced backyard and put a ladder up against the home.

The suspects were not able to get inside and fled. A witness described the suspects as three men in their late teens to early twenties. One was described as Hispanic, the second as a light skinned black male wearing a red hooded jacket and the third as a white male wearing a black jacket and cream colored shoes with a red stripe.

The homes are within the same neighborhood separated by Annandale Community. Police did not say if the incidents could be related. Report any information to 703-691-2131 or submit a tip online through Crime Solvers.
