BALLSTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a woman Wednesday in connection with the theft of vehicle in the Ballston area, according to the daily crime report.
Around 4:12 p.m., officers were dispatched to N. Henderson Road at N. Thomas Street for the report of a grand larceny auto that had just occurred. They learned from the victim that they had left their vehicle unattended and idling, when it was stolen. After canvassing the area, the officers located the vehicle in the area of N. Glebe Road at Cathedral Lane. They attempted a traffic stop, but the driver actively eluded them. The driver also failed to stop when they made a second attempt in the area of Wilson Boulevard and N. Monroe Street.
After briefly losing sight of the vehicle, the officers found it again when the suspect backed it into a parking spot in the 3300 block of 2nd Street S. The driver refused to leave the vehicle and began to drive off, hitting a cruiser that was blocking it in. Police deployed spike strips as the driver tried to get away by reversing onto the curb. After multiple attempts to have the driver exit the vehicle, the officers forced entry and took her into custody.
