Arlington Big Brother Contestant Survives First Elimination

ARLINGTON, VA — A Big Brother contestant who hails from Arlington has survived a tumultuous first night in the Big Brother house as the new season premiered this week.

Matthew Clines, a 33-year-old renovation consultant from Arlington, is one of 16 people competing for a $500,000 grand prize in the long-running summer CBS reality show.

The show had an elimination challenge the very first night, but Clines survived it.

Clines describes himself as "fun, competitive, and silly" and said he enjoys watching panda videos, sleeping, and lifting weights.

"Befriend everyone, identify strengths and weaknesses of each competitor, and determine who to form alliances with," Clines said of his strategy. "Specifically, I would be good friends with the female Houseguests because they are critical in moving chess pieces in the house."

He isn't the only person from Northern Virginia in the house. Dominique CooperDominique Cooper, 30, originally hails from Tuskegee, Ala., but currently lives in Woodbridge and works as a government engineer.
