Arlington Board Sets Public Hearing For Proposed FY2027 Budget
County board members will meet March 24 to review the proposed budget, which includes significant funding for schools and county operations.

ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington County Board will host a public hearing on March 24 regarding the County Manager’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2027.
This budget proposal covers the operational and capital needs for the county for the period beginning July 1, 2026. Included in the proposal is a transfer of $650,305,579 to support the school system.
The total proposed budget for the county government stands at $1,349,867,782, which includes general fund operations and other operating funds. According to the published notice, the general fund operations portion accounts for $1,027,880,976 of the total plan.

The proposed budget is available for public review on the county website at www.arlingtonva.us. Interested individuals may also examine the documents by contacting the Office of the Clerk to the County Board at 703-228-3130 during weekday business hours. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Suite 307, in Arlington.
This budget hearing is distinct from the public hearing regarding the real estate tax rate, personal property tax rate, and other fee changes. That separate hearing is scheduled for March 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Residents who wish to speak at the budget hearing on March 24 may sign up in advance online at www.arlingtonva.us/Government/County-Board or by calling the Clerk’s office. Registration for public comment is open from March 17 until the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. on March 24.

In-person registration will also be available on the day of the meeting until the start time. Participants may join the hearing in person or remotely via Microsoft Teams. The proceedings will be broadcast on local cable channels, including Comcast 25 and 1073 and Verizon FiOS 39 and 40, and will be available via live stream on the county website. Individuals requiring reasonable accommodations or language translation services are advised to contact the County Board office at 703-228-3130 or via email at countyboard@arlingtonva.us at least 72 hours before the meeting.
