Arlington Chef to Judge on 'Chopped Junior'

Chef David Guas makes his debut appearance as a judge on the hit Food Network show on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

ARLINGTON, VA — In Arlington he's best known as the owner of Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery in Courthouse, and now Chef David Guas gets his introduction to America Tuesday night as a judge on the hit Food Network show "Chopped Junior."

The New Orleans-born chef will join NFL linebacker DeMarcus Ware of the Denver Broncos and "Chopped" regular judge Alex Guarnaschelli for Tuesday night's episode, which airs at 8 p.m.

"Chopped" is a reality-based cooking television game show that pits four chefs against each other to see who will win $10,000 at the end of the show. One chef is eliminated by the judges after the appetizer round, the entree round and the dessert round, leaving one chef standing. "Chopped Junior" is in the same format, but kids compete rather than adults.

It's Guas' first time judging on Chopped, but not his first time on the show. He was a contestant in 2012, where he was "chopped" after the entree round.

Guas opened up the New Orleans-themed Bayou Bakery in Arlington back in 2010. He recently opened up a second location in D.C. on Capitol Hill.

The Travel Channel chose Guas in 2014 to host a new TV series called "American Grilled." He is also a regular on "The Today Show."
