Arlington Flea Market Celebrates 40 Years
"The Arlington Civitan Open Air Flea Market is the perfect place to find things you never knew you really needed," said Patrick Malone, an Arlington Civitan volunteer. "After 40 years, people still come looking for bargains."
The market began in 1986, when the Arlington Civitan Club partnered with Arlington County to establish a central location where residents could sell and recycle used goods.

Admission originally cost 25 cents, but the market is now free for shoppers.
Over the past four decades, the event has become the club's largest fundraiser. Money raised through vendor spaces and other activities supports charitable causes, including organizations serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arlington Civitan Club is a volunteer-led service organization that has provided financial assistance to local charities since 1960.
What Shoppers Should Know Before Saturday's Market
According to organizers, the selection of merchandise changes from month to month because different vendors participate in each market.
Early arrivals generally have the widest selection of merchandise, while shoppers arriving closer to closing time may find vendors more willing to negotiate prices.
Saturday's market will take place at the I-66 Parking Garage at 15th Street North and North Stafford Street, adjacent to Washington-Liberty High School.
The event will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., regardless of the weather.
The flea market is scheduled to return in 2027, although organizers have not announced the date of the first market next year.
