Arlington Gets Its Share Of VA Settlement With Opioid Distributors
The majority of Virginia localities, including Arlington, were scheduled to receive their payments from the settlement last Friday.
ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington County government is set to receive its share of a legal settlement with opioid distributors that will be used to help people with opioid additions.
The majority of Virginia localities, including Arlington, were scheduled to receive their first payments from the settlement with opioid distributors McKesson, AmerisourceBergen and Cardinal Health last Friday, according to Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares.
Virginia will receive $15 million from this initial payment, and the Opioid Abatement Authority will receive $9,939,866.90. Virginia’s 133 localities will receive $4,066,309.18 as their share of the first payment from the distributors.

“I’m thrilled to announce that after a long period of waiting, the payments to Virginia’s Opioid Abatement Authority and to Virginia’s localities under this landmark settlement are on the way,” Miyares said in a statement.
“Virginia communities will be able to take actionable steps to fight back against the opioid epidemic, knowing that more help is on the way,” he said.

Arlington is entitled to 1.378 percent of the $4.07 million, which works out to $56,034, according to the Sun Gazette.
