Arlington Virtual MLK Tribute To Honor King's Legacy With Song, Dance And Spoken Word
Through song, dance, spoken word and service, Arlington honors legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington residents will be able to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. either by viewing the county's virtual tribute or participating in a day of service.
Arlington's official tribute will be held Sunday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m. This will be the second year in a row that an in-person celebration has moved online due to COVID-19 concerns.
During the virtual program, King's life will be celebrated with music, dance and spoken word:

- Kim B Miller, a spoken word artist, will share her original works.
- Singer Kimberly Gordon will perform three selections, including "Lift Every Slice and Sing," which is known as the Black national anthem.
- Kamali Hill will perform a dance to "Freedom" by the Golden Gospel Singers, as well "Down by the River Side" by Mahalia Jackson.
- Dancer Malachi Alexander will perform to "It Ain't Over" by Maurette Brown Clark.
The 2022 MLK Virtual Tribute video can be viewed live beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16. on the Arlington Parks & Recreation website or Facebook page.
With many people off work on Monday due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, they'll have the opportunity to honor King's memory by participating in the 2022 MLK Day of Service hosted by Volunteer Arlington. A selection of in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities are available on the Day of Service website.
