SPRINGFIELD, VA — A 41-year-old Arlington man was arrested by Fairfax County Police in connection with a non-fatal, double shooting that took place Wednesday at a daycare in Springfield.

Investigators determined that Julio Pascual Sejas entered the business located in the 8500 block of Bauer Dr around 2:14 p.m., and shot two women who were employed there, Deputy Chief Brooke Wright told reporters on Wednesday.

"It appears today he approached this business and attempted to speak to his either estranged spouse or current spouse," she said. "We are still investigating the nature of that relationship, but it is domestic in nature."

Wright confirmed that the unidentified female employee did not open the door to Sejas, but he then proceeded to shoot three rounds through the door.

"Both her and another employee were struck by rounds, non-fatally," she said. "They were both taken to the hospital by the fire and rescue department and they're being treated for their injuries."

More than 70 children were inside the business at the time of the shooting and were evacuated safely and unharmed, according to Wright.

FCPD’s Fugitive Tracking & Apprehension Unit apprehended Sejas at Washington Dulles International Airport later in the day. Police charged him with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, a weapons offense and shooting into a school building.
