ARLINGTON, VA — A 39-year-old Arlington man found himself in police custody after trying to force his way into a home in the Buckingham neighborhood on Thursday night, according to Arlington County Police.

Officers were dispatched around 11:25 p.m. for the report of a dispute in the 4100 block of 3rd Road N. Arriving on the scene, they learned that a man tried to force his way through a window into the residence of a woman he knew. The suspect ran off after he was confronted outside by another occupant of the home, according to police.

An officer who responded to the scene saw the suspect nearby and issued commands, but the suspect ran away, according to police. Follow a brief chase on foot, the officer apprehended the suspect in the area of 2nd Street N. and N. Thomas Street.

After his arrest, William Perez Dealderete of Arlington was charged with attempted burglary, obstruction of justice and public intoxication, police say.
