Arlington Man Cited For Shooting Into Occupied Vehicle: Police

An 18-year-old Arlington man was arrested for a shooting incident in the Radnor/Fort Myer Heights area last December, authorities say.

ARLINGTON, VA — An 18-year-old Arlington man is facing multiple firearm charges in connection to a shooting incident at occurred in the Radnor/Fort Myer Heights neighborhood last December, according to authorities.

An officer on patrol in the neighborhood on Dec. 27, 2025 reported hearing shots being fired around 12:42 p.m.

"Additional responding officers recovered evidence confirming several shots had been fired at 13th Street North and North Taft Street," according to the incident report. "The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect walked towards a parked vehicle, discharged a firearm and ran from the scene. An occupant of the vehicle then allegedly discharged a firearm before driving away from the scene. No injuries were reported."

Through their investigation, detectives identified Malik Proctor Vasquez as a suspect in the case, according to police. He was arrested in the 1200 block of North Scott Street on Wednesday evening and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, reckless handling of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm. He was then released on his own recognizance.

Vasquez is scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m. on Monday in Arlington General District Court, according to court records.

The shooting into an occupied vehicle charge is a Class 6 felony, which is punishable by one to five years in prison or up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia. The other charges are Class 1 misdemeanors.
