Police say he and an accomplice threw store items at an employee when confronted.

ARLINGTON, VA — A police officer tased a man who is accused of trying to steal items from a 7 Eleven convenience store and then throwing the items at an employee who confronted them, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

A police officer who was working "stationary traffic enforcement" at the intersection of Columbia Pike and S. Columbus Street was summoned by an employee who worked at a nearby 7 Eleven at around 1 p.m. on Oct. 17, the report states.

"As the employee attempted to speak with the officer, a male subject intervened and became combative with the officer," the report states. "The officer attempted to detain the subject in order to conduct the investigation but the subject refused to follow the officer’s lawful commands and resisted arrest. The officer deployed his taser and the subject was taken into custody."
