Arlington Restaurant Violations: Roaches At Bar Louie
Arlington County reported violations at Bar Louie, Thai Square, and Sabor Latino food truck, according to inspections on June 28-29.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County regularly conducts inspections of local restaurants. Reports are generally posted about a week after the inspection. We've listed the three restaurants with some of the most serious or interesting violations -- including a roach problem at Bar Louie -- from inspections at Arlington restaurants on June 28-29, the most recent dates available.
Bar Louie Arlington, 320 S 23rd St, #50

Non-critical violation: Observation (REPEAT): The nonfood-contact surface of several pieces of equipment throughout the kitchen are not kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and/or other debris.
Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The food-contact surfaces of soda gun nozzles, with accumulation of mold, are not clean to sight and touch.

Non-critical violation: Observation (REPEAT): The refrigerator prep tops are stored on the floor.
Non-critical violation: Observation: The handwashing sink located at back kitchen area is not maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use. Sink is blocked by a piece of equipment.
Non-critical violation: Observation: The light intensity is below 50 foot candles where a food employee is working with food. The light intensity is not at 50 foot candles in front kitchen line area.
Non-critical violation: Observation: Insect, rodent, and/or other pest harborage conditions were observed on the premises. Roaches were observed around the three part sink and the room with the water heater.
Non-critical violation: rvation: There is an inoperational oven in the establishment in front of the hand sink by the three part sink.
Non-critical violation: Observation: The kitchen is in need of cleaning behind, under, and around equipment.
Non-critical violation: Observation: The permit is not posted in a location in the food establishment that is conspicuous to consumers.
Thai Square Restaurant, 3217 Columbia Pike

Violations: 8
Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A food employee failed to wash his or her hands before donning gloves for working with food.
Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The food establishment does not have a HACCP plan and a variance from this regulatory authority to dry cooked meat to make Thai jerky. Observed cooked beef at 97-120F, on a shelf just above the stove. The CFM said that this will be used to make sort of Thai jerky and cook leaves it there for more than 5 hours to dry after cooking. The food was discarded.
Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Thin rice noodles (62F), tomatoes (77F) and flat rice noodles (66F) observed at improper cold temperature in the kitchen.
Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Employees were observed eating and drinking in the kitchen.
Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Food employees are not wearing effective hair restraints.
Non-critical violation: Observation: Observed several home-standard cooking pots in the kitchen.

Critical violation: Observation: No hot or cold water in the food truck.
Non-critical violation: Observation: Grease/oil drip pan not provided.
Non-critical violation: Observation: A food temperature measuring device is not provided and readily accessible for use in ensuring attainment and maintenance of food temperatures.
Non-critical violation: Observation (REPEAT): A chlorine test kit or other device that accurately measures the concentration of the sanitizing solution is not provided.
Non-critical violation: Observation: Three (3)-compartment sink is not sealed to the wall.
Non-critical violation: Observation: The outer openings of the food establishment are not protected against the entry of insects and rodents. No screen windows.
Non-critical violation: Observation: A supply of hand cleaning liquid, powder, or bar soap is not provided at handwashing sink.
Non-critical violation: Observation: Ants observed throughout inside the truck.
