Police Give All Clear Friday, After Bomb Threat at Yorktown High School in Arlington

A bomb threat was received shortly after noon, according to police.

Arlington County Police handled a bomb threat Friday at Yorktown High School, after the threat was called into the school shortly after 12 noon.

Students were evacuated from the building while police used K-9 bomb-sniffing dogs to search the building and came up with negative results, police said. Police said on social media that the evacuation was precautionary and allowed them to do a complete sweep of the building.

Students later returned to the building after police gave the all-clear sign, according to police.

Also Friday, Buckland Mills Elementary School in Gainesville was evacuated due to an unconfirmed telephone threat, according to Prince William County Schools. Police made a preliminary check and did not find anything of concern. K-9 units were also being used there before giving the all clear.
