Avoid Contact With Gulf Branch Stream Due To Sanitary Sewer Overflow
Residents in the Gulf Branch area of Arlington are asked to avoid the stream in the Military Road area due to overflow from a blocked sewer.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County was warning residents in the Gulf Branch area on Wednesday morning to avoid coming in contact with the stream that flows through their neighborhood toward the Potomac River. The warning includes the area along Gulf Branch Nature Center.
Overflow from a blocked sanitary sewer contaminated the Gulf Branch downstream from N Utah Street, 35th Street N, and Military Road, according to an alert posted at 8:10 a.m. social media. A crew was working to clear the block pipe.
The Arlington Department of Environmental Services reminded residents that the toilet was not a trash can. Review what items may be flushed safely on the ADES website.
