Big Wednesday Morning Mess at Rosslyn Metro Station
An arcing insulator appears to be the cause of rush hour delays on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines.
ARLINGTON, VA — An arcing insulator at the Rosslyn Metro station forced single-tracking throughout rush hour Wednesday morning, causing big delays in both directions.
Arlington County issued an alert at 6:17 a.m. warning of a "mass transit disruption" affecting the Silver, Orange and Blue lines.
"Train service suspended btwn Foggy Bottom and Court House as well as Foggy Bottom & Arlington Cemetery due to a track problem outside Rosslyn," the alert reads.

About 15 minutes later, the county sent another alert: "Trains are now single tracking due to the track problem outside Rosslyn. Delays in both directions."
The alert didn't indicate the cause of the problem, but multiple media outlets report that it was an arcing insulator.
