Bike Thief's Clothes Thwart Police Officer's Taser: Police
Police arrested 36-year-old Larry Fortune, who is accused of striking the officer in the face.

ARLINGTON, VA — A man was arrested in Arlington earlier this week after he was able to escape an officer's taser thanks to his heavy clothes, only to be captured shortly after and hit with a litany of charges.
Larry Fortune, 36, is also accused of striking the officer, who confronted Fortune in the 2000 block of N. Sycamore Street at around 2:16 p.m. March 14 after the officer spotted him tampering with bicycle locks while on routine patrol, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.
"As the officer approached the subject to initiate the investigation, the subject attempted to flee the area," the report states. "The officer was able to briefly stop the subject but he became combative and struck the officer. The officer deployed his taser, but it was ineffective due to the heavy clothing the subject was wearing."
