Board OKs 6-Story Glebe Road Redevelopment
Arlington County excited about redevelopment, including 7 affordable housing units.

A six-story residential building with ground floor retail will replace an Exxon station and a parking lot on Glebe Road in Ballston.
Site plans and rezoning for the new building won unanimous approval by the Arlington County Board over the weekend. The county notes that the building will have seven affordable housing units.
Called 672 Flats, the project at 670 N. Glebe Road is an ”exciting redevelopment,” says board chair Mary Hynes.

“Importantly, this new building is the last piece in the long-planned transition from the high rise Mall to the site-plan townhome communities built nearly 25 years ago,” she said. “The project provides seven units of affordable housing within walking distance of the Ballston Metro Station.”
The developer, The Penrose Group, is planning 173 residential units above ground-floor retail, with 177 below-grade parking spaces and 70 bicycle spaces.
