15-Year-Old Girl Struck on Lee Highway in Arlington
The girl, who was on her way to school, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All lanes have been reopened.
ARLINGTON, VA — Police temporarily shut down a section of Lee Highway in North Arlington after a 15-year-old girl on her way to school was struck by a car. The girl was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police closed off Lee Highway between Glebe Road and George Mason Drive after the collision, which happened at 7:36 a.m. at the intersection of Lee Highway and Edison Street. Arlington County sent out an alert at 10:17 a.m. that all lanes of Lee Highway had been reopened.
Police spokesperson Ashley Savage said the girl was transported to George Washington University for treatment.

"The striking vehicle remained on scene," she said. "The police department’s Critical Accident Team responded to the area and is currently investigating the cause of the collision."
