Chalice Theatre presents Tuck Everlasting

What would you do if you had all eternity? Eleven-year-old Winnie Foster yearns for a life of adventure, but when she becomes unexpectedly entwined with the Tuck Family, she gets more than she could have imagined. As her adventure unfolds, Winnie faces an extraordinary choice: return to her life or continue with the Tucks on their infinite journey.

Chalice Theatre’s production of Tuck Everlasting, the musical based on Natalie Babbitt’s novel, opened last weekend. Running through March 21, this production features the hallmarks of every Chalice show- a talented multigenerational cast, inventive staging, and an uplifting message.

Director Elle Sullivan was excited for the combination of story and mission offered by Chalice. “As an adult, I often return to these stories, or pick up new pieces of children’s literature, to deepen my own growth and understanding of the world. This beautiful adaptation of Tuck Everlasting is such a perfect fit for Chalice’s mission of creating intergenerational theatre.”

Tuck Everlasting is Chalice Theatre’s 28^th mainstage production. It features a cast of seasoned Chalice alums and talented newcomers from across the area along with a beautiful score and poignant moments. Colleen Nguyen and her daughter, 6th grader Abby, are performing together in their third Chalice production. “Chalice has given us the unique opportunity to be castmates, as well as to become part of this inclusive community of talent from across the region.”

First-weekend audiences raved about the production, many leaving with both tears and smiles from the beautiful message portrayed with such sensitivity by the talented cast. Remaining performances are March 13, 14, 19 & 20 at 7:30, and March 14, 15 & 21 at 2 pm, at UUCA, 4444 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22204. Pre-purchase is strongly recommended.
