Clinton's War Against Trump Continues With Virginia Campaign Stop

The presumptive Democratic nominee will remark on the recent terrorist attack in Orlando.

Hillary Clinton will be ramping up efforts to solidify herself as the best candidate to handle national security after the recent terrorist attack in Orlando, and she's continuing her push to separate herself from Donald Trump with an appearance in Hampton, Va.

Clinton will hold a "conversation on national security" in Hampton on Wednesday, her campaign said in a statement. The event will be held at the Virginia Air and Space Center at 600 Settlers Landing Road beginning at 1:15 p.m. June 15.

A gunman who pledged allegiance to ISIS shot 49 people to death in a packed gay nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning, the worst mass shooting in United States history. Another 53 people were wounded in the attack at Pulse nightclub, setting off a war of words between presidential candidates Clinton and Trump.

Clinton plans to talk about keeping America safe in the wake of the attack with "veterans, military families and members of the defense community," according to the statement. She previously made remarks on the attack during an appearance in Cleveland on Monday.

"Clinton will again emphasize her plans to keep America safe while adhering to our nation's guiding principles and values," the statement reads. "At the event, Clinton will hear directly from a community uniquely impacted by national security decisions about what they are looking for in our next Commander in Chief."
