Like Cold Brews? The 400-Foot 'Street Pub' is Coming to Town Soon
The portable bar that travels across the country raising money for charity is coming to "Taste of Arlington" in May.

There’s nothing like a cold, great-tasting pint of beer -- especially when you pair it with a charitable cause. You’ll get both when the 400-foot “Street Pub” comes to town in May.
The annual “Taste of Arlington” event will be taking over Wilson Boulevard on May 15, and this year will be extra special because the brand new Street Pub will also be on hand. It has so far raised almost $400,000 for causes like the “Boys and Girls Club,” “Western Reserve Land Conservancy,” “Alliance for the Great Lakes,” and a host of other local efforts as it has made its way from Bend, Oregon -- the home of Deschutes Brewery, which is spearheading the effort -- through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado and California.
“The idea behind Street Pub was to bring our pub experience to a few communities where we would create a local gathering spot for people to enjoy great beer,” the Street Pub’s website says. “We partnered with local nonprofits, bands, food trucks, chefs, and sometimes breweries to celebrate each of those communities. But in the end, the best part was being able to raise close to $400,000 for our charity partners in Street Pub’s first year.”

Now, the Ballston Business Improvement District has announced their partnership with Deschutes to bring the portable bar to 2016 Taste, according to a statement.
“This partnership will not only take the beer garden to a whole new level, but will greatly increase Taste’s fundraising clout,” the statement reads. “As a signature event of the Ballston BID’s new charitable arm, BallstonGives, they hope to outdo all past fundraising. The BID has already guaranteed a minimum $25,000 donation to Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) with a goal of raising much more.”
