Crystal City Robbery Suspect Tracked, Arrested By Metro Police In DC
Responding to an alert about a robbery in Crystal City, Metro Transit Police used video to locate and arrest the suspect in D.C.

ARLINGTON, VA — Metro Transit Police tracked down and apprehended a 35-year-old D.C. man who boarded a Metrorail car in Virginia after stealing money from a Crystal City business, according to police.
Around 6:50 p.m. on Monday, Arlington County Police responded to the report of a robbery at a business in the 1700 block of Crystal Drive. Officers determined that a man entered the business, walked up to the counter and started a conversation with an employee. At some point, the man took money from the cash register and left the business. ACPD broadcast a lookout with a description of the suspect.
Using surveillance cameras, MTPD officers identified the suspect and tracked him through the Metrorail system.

"Officers tracked the suspect across rail lines using both live & recorded video, ultimately arresting the person at a different station from their point of entry," MTPD said, in a social media post. "With hundreds of MTPD & special police officers patrolling Metro, we stand ready to address crime realtime."
Maleek Geeter of Washington, D.C. was charged by police in the District with robbery.

"The apprehension of the suspect highlights the strong collaboration between area law enforcement to ensure public safety," ACPD said, in a social media post.
