Delays On I-495 After Crash, Lane Blocked On I-95: Traffic In NoVA, DC

Good morning, Northern Virginia. Here's everything you need to know for your Friday morning commute.

Here are the latest traffic updates that will impact your morning commute on Friday, July 8.

On the Road

As of 6:47 a.m., all lanes are open, but delays remain in Montgomery County on the outer loop of the Beltway before the American Legion Bridge after an earlier crash. Delays start after Exit 36/Old Georgetown Rd. and on I-270 SB start after Democracy Blvd.

As of 7:30 a.m., one travel lane closed on I-95 at mile marker 132.5 (1.4 miles south of US-17, Exit133A) in Stafford County.

In Fredericksburg, the left lane of I-95 southbound is blocked by a crash after the Route 3 exit as of 6:30 a.m.

A disabled vehicle was reported at 6:38 a.m. on southbound I-395 at mile marker 7.5, about 0.4 miles north of the Glebe Rd. Exit in Arlington County. No lanes are closed.

A crash has been cleared as of 6:22 a.m. that was blocking the southbound lanes of Route 1 in Fairfax County, about 0.8 miles north of Route 123.

A vehicle fire on the southbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 152.5 in Prince William County has been cleared as of 6:20 a.m.

On westbound I-66 at mile marker 50.4 in Fairfax County, motorists can expect residual delays due to a disabled vehicle. As of 7:26 a.m., the vehicle had been removed from the roadway.

In Fairfax County, I-66 westbound before Nutley Street, lanes split and traffic gets by to the left and right by the work zone.

On the Metro

After a track problem between Friendship Heights and Medical Center on the Red Line in Maryland, there may be residual delays in both directions, Metro said at 6:30 a.m. Normal service has resumed on the Blue Line at Franconia-Springfield as of 6:35 a.m. in the direction of Largo after a signal problem at the station.

DC Weather

Forecasters are calling for a chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, then thunderstorms possible after 5 p.m. The high temperature is expected near 86. The low temperature should drop to only 71 Friday night. More rain is expected on Saturday, with a high near 76. New rainfall amounts could total between 1 and 2 inches on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
