Family-Friendly Taste of Arlington Set for Sunday

The 28th annual event will benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

The 28th Annual Taste of Arlington, hosted by the Ballston Business Improvement District (BID) and presenting sponsor Rent Dittmar to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), will showcase more than 50 diverse and delectable restaurants; a “best dish” contest; Girls on the Run 5k open to public participation; live music; an extensive beer and wine garden; World Pup Tournament with a guest appearance from HOT99.5’s Intern John and Olympic goalkeeper Briana Scurry; and an exclusive VIP Pavilion with a wine and beer tasting experience.

General admission is free. To taste restaurant offerings, guests may purchasea book of 10 Taste tickets for $35 prior to the event and $40 the day of the event, discounted tickets are available on the BallstonConnect app.

· All The Hits 107.3 concert stage performances by Jumpin’ Jupiter, White Ford Bronco and Burnt Sienna.

· KidZone featuring a Teen Band stage, carnival games, rock climbing wall, Capitals and Wizards inflatable games, face-painting and mini golf

· Free Movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” in NRECA building

· Hot 99.5’s Intern John to and his pup Chuy participating in the World Pup Tournament

· Beer and wine garden featuring over two dozen brands of brew, bubbly and wine

· VIP Champagne Pavilion passes available for purchase to accommodate attendees who wish to dine and drink amidst judges, sponsors of Taste and the press

WHEN: Sunday, May 17 from noon to 6 p.m.– rain or shine

Kidzone: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Best Dish Contest – 3 p.m.

World Pup Tournament – 1-3 p.m.

WHERE: Wilson Boulevard from Glebe Road to N. QuincyStreet and along N. Stuart Street to 9th Street. Parking is available all day atthe Ballston Public Parking Garage adjacent to the Ballston Common Mall.The event can also be accessed through the Ballston-MU Metro station(Orange line).

WHY: This year’s charity beneficiary is the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), a community-based non-profit that provides supplemental groceries to Arlingtonians in need. AFAC serves approximately 1,600 families each week, including elders, children, the unemployed and the under-employed. More than 80 percent of AFAC’s funds and 65 percent of the food AFAC distributes is donated. Visit www.afac.org for more information.
