FBI Offers $5,000 Reward After Man In Black Sticks Up DC Bank

The man handed a note to the teller of a bank on K Street demanding money and then fled.

The FBI is asking people to be on the lookout for a middle-aged man dressed in all black who tried to rob a bank on K Street in downtown Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

The FBI is offering a reward of $5,000 for anyone who can identify the man, who walked into United Bank at 1667 K Street NW and demanded money from the teller via a note, while also threatening the teller verbally. The man then fled the bank and headed north.

A wanted notice identifies the man as black, 45-50 years old and about 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was wearing a black cap, dark shirt, black pants and black jacket.

The FBI/Metropolitan Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force is asking that anyone with information on the man call the FBI at 202-278-2000 or MPD’s tip line at 202-727-9099, or you can submit an anonymous tip via text to 50411.

It’s the second time a Washington-area United Bank branch has been victimized within the past week. Arlington police say an unknown individual forced entry through a hole in the wall of a United Bank on N. Williamsburg Boulevard sometime Saturday evening. The perpetrator damaged the ATM but failed to steal any cash.
