Felony Assault Charges For District Woman After Pentagon City Metro Incident
D.C. woman faces felony charges following a struggle with Arlington County Police who were conducting a fare evasion arrest, reports say.
ARLINGTON, VA — A 38-year-old District woman is facing two assault on police charges involving an incident that occurred just after 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Pentagon City Metro Station, according to authorities.
An Arlington County police officers working a crime prevention detail stopped a juvenile male for fare evasion, according to the incident report. When he resisted arrest, other officers stepped in to assist.
"While he was being detained, the adult female suspect charged at the officers, began yelling and subsequently struck two officers," according to the report. "The female suspect resisted arrest and struggled with the officers until she was ultimately taken into custody. The suspect sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention."

Police charged Shaketa Johnson of Washington, D.C. with two counts of assault on police, obstruction of justice, and disorderly conduct, according to ACPD.
Johnson was scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m.on Monday, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing date has not been set.

The two assault on police charges are Class 6 felonies. If Johnson is convicted on either of these charges, she faces a potential sentence of up to 12 months in jail and fine of up to $2,500, under the Virginia Code.
