Fight On Soccer Field At Thomas Jefferson Center Leads To 2 Arrests
ACPD officers arrested two men they say were fighting on the upper soccer field at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center Sunday night.
ARLINGTON, VA — Two men in their 20s are facing assault and battery charges after they were seen fighting on the upper soccer field at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center on Sunday night.
Officers deployed at the Arlington County Fair responded around 9 p.m., to the 3500 block of 2nd Street S. for the report on the a fight on the soccer fields, according to police. Investigators determined that private security saw two suspects fighting. Although one of the suspects was detained, the other ran from the responding officer. Running after the fleeing suspect, the officer was able to take him into custody.
While the suspects were being arrested, a crowd formed and began throwing water bottles and other objects at the officers. Additional officers arrived on the scene, who then dispersed the crowd and cleared the field.

Police arrested 25-year-old Rick Chavez of Temple Hills, Maryland and Jordan Garcia-Viera of Sterling. They were both charged with assault and battery, with Chavez receiving an additional charge of obstruction.
