Freddie's Beach Bar Celebrates 25th Anniversary In Crystal City

ARLINGTON, VA — Freddie’s Beach Bar & Restaurant, located in Crystal City, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary on Sunday, March 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at 555 23rd St. South in Arlington.

Since opening in 2001, Freddie’s has been recognized as a landmark in Northern Virginia. The establishment is known for its inclusive atmosphere and support for the LGBTQ+ community, including personnel from the nearby Pentagon. The bar also features kitschy beach decor and signature "Freddie Flamingo" cocktails.

"I lost my mind and opened Freddie’s in 2001, and I haven't looked back since," said owner Freddie Lutz. "From hosting milestones like the repeal of 'Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell' to our nightly karaoke and drag performances, this bar has always been about providing a safe, joyful space for everyone to be themselves."

General Manager Tony Rivenbark, who has been with Freddie's for over 23 years, said, "Freddie's has undoubtedly become an institution. A home for so many." Rivenbark added that Lutz "continues to pour his heart and soul into this place ... into making it special, for everyone."

The anniversary celebration will feature an evening of music, food, drinks, giveaways, and community toasts. Over its 25 years, Freddie’s has received multiple accolades, including official proclamations from the Governor of Virginia for its community impact. The anniversary marks two and a half decades of advocacy and community engagement.
