Update: Gas Leak In Ballston Area Contained
Arlington County Fire Department units are on the scene of an underground gas leak in the Ballston area.

UPDATE (July 8, 10:50 a.m.): Arlington County Fire Department reported around 10:39 the gas leak in the Ballston area was clamped down and contained. Residual odor will remain for 30-60 minutes from then.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Fire Department reported an underground gas line rupture around 10 a.m. in the Ballston area, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account.
Emergency crews and gas utility teams are in the area of North Pollard Street and 5th Road. The public is asked to follow the directions of emergency crews, as the ACFD Hazmat team conducts atmospheric monitoring of the surrounding area. No evacuations are necessary at this time.
