Improperly Stored Meat Found At Arlington Eateries: Health Inspection

Health inspectors reported finding code violations at six of the Arlington food establishments they visited recently.

ARLINGTON, VA — Inspectors with Arlington County Public Health reported finding health code violations at six of the food establishments they visited between Feb. 9 and Feb. 13.

Several of the restaurants were cited for improperly storing raw meet, with on eatery keeping raw chicken above ready-to-eat kimchi and radishes.

  • Eat More Taco 708 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22203: The restaurant was cited for a critical violation involving improper cold holding temperatures for salsa and sour cream. Additionally, inspectors noted that a prep table and a lowboy cooler were failing to maintain food at the required 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below. View Inspection Report
  • Jinya Ramen Bar 4238 Wilson Blvd., Suite 150, Arlington, VA 22203: Observations included raw meats stored improperly above ready-to-eat foods in a walk-in cooler. The inspector also found that the mechanical dish machine was not dispensing the correct concentration of chlorine sanitizer and observed several unlabeled chemical spray bottles in the kitchen.   • Smokecraft Modern Barbecue 1051 N. Highland St., Arlington, VA 22201: The facility was cited for a dirty ice machine interior and a lack of required written allergen notifications for consumers. Inspectors also noted that several non-food contact surfaces throughout the kitchen required more frequent cleaning to prevent the buildup of grime. View Inspection Report
  • Istanbul Grill 4617 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22203 Inspectors observed an employee using the same tongs for raw and cooked meats without sanitizing them in between. Other violations included a soiled meat slicer blade and beef brisket held at unsafe temperatures in a cookline refrigeration unit. View Inspection Report
  • Chick-fil-A at Crystal City 2200 Crystal Drive, Suite G, Arlington, VA 22202: A routine inspection revealed that the chlorine sanitizer in the three-compartment sink was at an excessively high concentration (above 200 ppm). The restaurant was also cited for several unlabeled containers of dry goods, such as sugar and salt, and for a chest freezer that required defrosting and cleaning. View Inspection Report
  • Takeshi Sushi 2424A Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201: Health officials cited the establishment for storing raw chicken above ready-to-eat kimchi and radishes. Other observations included an air gap in an exterior door that could allow pests to enter and the storage of medicines on shelves directly in food preparation areas. View Inspection Report
