Increased Police Presence In Arlington For 'Unite The Right'
Police say you will notice more officers, including at Metro stations, as this weekend's rally draws closer.

ARLINGTON, VA -- Arlington County Police have notified the public that there will be a greater police presence in Arlington this weekend due to the "Unite the Right" rally taking place near the White House on Sunday.
While there are not events scheduled in Arlington for the rally -- a sequel to the white supremacist march that turned violent in Charlottesville last year -- the public "can expect to see an increased visible police presence throughout Arlington County, including metro stations, on August 12," police say in a Friday morning tweet.
"As with all special events where large crowds of people gather, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to police for investigation," the tweet adds. "Arlington County Police continue to work with our regional law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of residents, visitors and businesses of the Metropolitan Washington area."

The rally will take place in Lafayette Park adjacent to the White House, and is only expected to draw a few hundred white supremacists. However, authorities are concerned that their presence could lead to violence and are stepping up security both in D.C. and at Metro stations where rally-goers could encounter counter-protesters.
As always, the safety and security of residents, visitors, and businesses of Arlington County remains our top priority. pic.twitter.com/d6ESQN4gA5
